Man Found Dead With Gunshot Wound To Throat

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Bronx.

When officers responded to a 911 call early Sunday morning about an unconscious man, they found Craig Brewington, 28, of the Bronx dead in a Barker Avenue apartment building, police said.

According to authorities, Brewington had a gunshot wound to the throat. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was found in a first floor stairwell, according to a published report, and police are still searching for witnesses.

Brewington had supposedly been in the building collecting money from a friend when the shooting happened.

The victim had recently enrolled in a job training program, his mother Renee told the Post.

Brewington was described by family members as a devoted father to his 2-year-old daughter, the New York Post reported.
