Police: 70-Year-Old Woman Hurt In Jersey City Shooting Not Intended Victim

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities in Jersey City were investigating what led to the shooting of a woman Thursday afternoon.

The 70-year-old victim was outside on Griffith Street near Sherman Avenue when police said four suspects in a car suddenly drove by and opened fire.

Jersey City police told 1010 WINS' Eileen Lehpamer the woman was not the intended target and that they were still investigating the exact motive for the shooting.

That woman was in stable condition and police said none of her major organs were hit despite her being grazed by three of the bullets.

Three of the four suspects sought in the shooting were taken into custody, police said. A weapon was not immediately recovered.
