NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — What appears to be a human fetus has been found in a Bronx garbage chute, according to police.

Cops told 1010 WINS that a 19-year-old girl showed up at Einstein Hospital on Saturday night and told the staff that she had “given birth or had a miscarriage.”

Police went to the girl’s West Farms Road apartment and found the fetus in a garbage chute.

Neighbors speaking with 1010 WINS reporter Gary Baumgarten described the discovery as “disgusting”.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, it is not known if the girl gave birth or if she had a miscarriage, the apparent fetus will be sent to the medical examiner’s office.
