Police Seek 3 Suspects In Inwood Home Invasions, Robberies

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police this weekend were asking for the public's help in finding a trio of suspects wanted in connection with a string of robberies and home invasions in far northern Manhattan.

The robberies all took place in the 34th Precinct, which includes the Inwood section of Manhattan, as well as parts of Washington Heights. Police did not specify where the robberies happened, but the New York Post reported the most recent one just this past Tuesday occurred in an apartment near Sherman Avenue.

In each incident, a woman suspect knocked on the victim's door, and told the residents there was a water leak, or that she had their mail. Once the victim opened the door, the other two suspects stormed in and stole items inside.

The most recent incident happened at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday. Earlier incidents happened at 6 p.m. April 12, and 9 p.m. on Sept. 8 of last year.

In the April 12 incident, the male suspects entered brandishing a gun.

Police described the assailants as a Hispanic female between the ages of 20 and 25, standing 5 feet 5 to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 130 to 150 pounds; and two Hispanic males between the ages of 20 and 30, standing 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds.

Police have released a video of the suspects from the most recent incident.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers Web site, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
