Tractor Trailer Crashes Into George Washington Bridge Toll Booth

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A truck slammed into a toll booth on the inbound upper level of the George Washington Bridge early Monday, closing several lanes.

Fortunately, the toll booth was not manned at the time of the crash, police said.

Traffic tickets were issued to the driver who caused the crash and the trucking company he represented. The unidentified driver received one citation for failure to secure the load, and tickets for other unspecified violations, according to Port Authority police.

There was no word on what caused the crash as of Monday evening.

Delays remained for inbound traffic. Two lanes remained closed as of shortly before 6 p.m., according to the Port Authority, which described the effect on traffic as "minimal" for the evening rush.
