Police: LI Man Arrested For Shooting Off Fireworks
WANTAGH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) – A Long Island man has been arrested after police say they saw fireworks shooting off from his yard.
Craig Paulich, 43, was awaiting arraignment Sunday. A woman who answered the phone at his Wantagh home declined to comment.
Nassau County police say plainclothes officers saw fireworks erupting from the backyard shortly before midnight Saturday. Police say there also were empty fireworks containers, smoldering from recent use, in the front yard.
Paulich told police he set off the explosives, according to authorities. Detectives say they found commercial-grade as well as consumer-level fireworks inside the garage.
Paulich was arrested on charges of illegally storing and possessing explosives.
