Want To Be A Brooklynette? Open Auditions Take Place In June

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Grab your smile, put on your dancing sneakers and head to Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Nets are holding open auditions for the Brooklynettes dance team on Saturday, June 15 at 12 p.m. at the Wellness, Recreation & Athletic Center on the LIU Brooklyn campus located at 161 Ashland Place.

Registration begins at 11 a.m.

Before the open auditions, the Brooklynettes will hold audition intensive prep classes on Saturday, June 1 at the Wellness, Recreation & Athletic Center. The prep classes will feature two Brooklynettes routines performed at Nets games.

If you make it past the first round, callback auditions will be held on Sunday, June 16. They will be taught by Brooklyn-born choreographer Rhapsody James, who has choreographed for artists such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Madonna.

There will also be audition tips from the Brooklynettes coach and team captain. Those who attend both sessions will receive an automatic pass through the first round of auditions.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Dancers must be 18 or older and have at least eight years of technical dance training.

Tumbling skills are a plus, but not required.

Wear two-piece attire and non-marking sneakers.

Arrive in performance hair and makeup.

Select dancers will be invited to attend a callback audition on June 16, and finalists must be available the evenings of June 17 and 18.
