Police: 2 Bodies Found Inside Glen Cove Home

GLEN COVE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Nassau County police are still investigating the deaths of two people in Glen Cove.

Around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Adult Protective Services were called to a home on Milford Lane on a welfare check. When no one answered the door, they called authorities who then discovered the bodies inside, police said.

The Nassau County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause of death.

Police believe one of the possibilities is that the 84-year-old homeowner died of natural causes and her distraught 58-year-old son shot himself, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

"If she died of natural causes and the male committed suicide it could be out of his love for that other individual," Lt. John Azzata said.

Azzata said the elderly woman's body had been in the house for days.

Neighbors said the two were quiet and often kept to themselves.

"I'm stunned," one woman said. "I would never guess that anything like that would happen here and I've been living here for over 20 years."
