The Search Is On For New York City's Own Ice Cream Flavor

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It may not be easy to fit all of New York City into a single cup of ice cream, but Ben & Jerry's is trying to do it.

The company has launched a voting system that will allow New Yorkers to help create a city-centric ice cream flavor, Gothamist reported.

A few New Yorkers told 1010 WINS reporter Eileen Lehpamer that it should be called "Five Boroughs" and consist of a mash up of five different flavors. Others took to Facebook and offered the name "Melting Pot," since that's a characteristic of diversity the city has always been known for.

New Yorkers Take To The Polls To Name New Ben And Jerry's Flavor

"Five boroughs, five flavors. Like the rainbow, you know how you got the rainbow pop? Five boroughs, five flavors," one man said.

Others offered more colorful suggestions.

"FDR accident or something. Or jam? Traffic jam," one man said.

Another person even suggested calling it "The Garbage Pit."

Ben & Jerry's may have to wait until a sweeter idea comes along.
