Police: L.I. Teen Robs Family After Quitting Job At Target

HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island teenager is accused of threatening and robbing a family after quitting his job over the weekend.

Police said the incident happened Sunday afternoon right after 17-year-old Keddy Oliver of Westbury quit his job at the Target at Broadway Mall in Hicksville.

Oliver went up to a 34-year-old man who was waiting for a ride outside the store with his 24-year-old wife and two children, police said.

He pushed the victims and demanded money from them while pointing his hand in the shape of a gun at the man and children, police said.

Fearing for her family's safety, the wife handed over money to Oliver who then fled the scene on foot, police said.

Officers were able to track him down a short time later on nearby Nevada Street where he was arrested.

No injuries were reported.

Oliver is charged with two counts of third-degree robbery and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
