After Craig voiced his displeasure with the Mets organization’s decision to have their firework display at Citi Field tonight — rather than on the actually July 4 — Boomer was pleased to learn that rock band Madison Rising’s rendition of “The Star Spangled Banner” will be played throughout the celebration.

From there, Jerry Recco got things started with the scoop from last night’s Rome Braves-Charleston RiverDogs Single-A game, which featured Alex Rodriguez manning third base for the RiverDogs. A-Rod went 0-for-2 at the plate, but sounded jovial afterwards.

Plus, on the big league level, Robinson Cano hit a bomb, Mariano got a one out save as well as a rocking chair made of broken bats and the Yanks earn a 7-3 win over the Twins. The Mets overcame a rain delay that lasted almost two hours to beat the Diamondbacks by a score of 9-1, and finally, Homer Bailey threw a no-hitter for the Cincinnati Reds in their, 3-0, win over the San Francisco Giants…
