NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Ronnie Walz said she never thought the phone would ring with the type of news she got recently.
The remains of her husband, Firefighter Jeffrey Walz, who was killed in the north tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, have been identified.
“I guess in a way you feel like he came home,” Ronnie Walz told 1010 WINS’ Glen Shuck on Friday. “Is it him? No.”
Jeffrey Walz phoned his wife and his parents on the morning of the attacks, telling them he was being called into action, his brother recalled. His relatives would never see him again or even have any of his remains to bury, until now.
