Explosive Device Detonates, Rocks Nutley, N.J.

Authorities: No One Was Injured, But Windows Were Shattered

NUTLEY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Authorities on Sunday were investigating an explosion that shattered windows in Nutley, N.J. the night before.

The explosion happened around 8:45 p.m. Saturday near Prospect and Centre streets in Nutley, according to Nutley police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s office.

Responding officers and investigators later determined that an explosive device had detonated at the curb. No one was injured, but some windows were shattered, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s office Major Crimes Task Force and the Nutley Police Department were investigating. Anyone with information was asked to call Task Force detectives at (877) 847-7432 or (973) 621-4586.
