MUST-WATCH: Matt Harvey Asks New Yorkers About Matt Harvey

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Matt Harvey is arguably the best pitcher in baseball, and he will start for the National League in the 84th All-Star Game on Tuesday night.

But as it's his first full major-league season, his face isn't yet recognizable to the majority of the sports world ... and that includes fans in his own city.

In a skit on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," the Mets' ace took to the New York streets to interview Mets fans and native New Yorkers about himself ... Matt Harvey.

"Who's Matt Harvey?" the first person asked Harvey.

Even those who knew who Harvey was, which was all interviewees but one, didn't know that they were standing directly in front of the fireballer.

New Yorker (in a Harvey jersey): If I do have to pick my favorite, I'd have to say it would probably be Lucas Duda. I just really enjoy seeing him play.
Harvey: What about Matt Harvey?
New Yorker: Um, you know, he's a stud.
Harvey: Thank you.

The 24-year-old managed to keep a straight face throughout the interviews -- aside from when he revealed who he was in some instances -- and added some brilliant deadpan humor to the segment.

Harvey: Longtime Mets fan?
New Yorker (in a Harvey jersey): Yeah, since I was little, Mets fan all the way.
Harvey: Who's your favorite player?
New Yorker: Oh, dude, Harvey, man (reveals the back of his Harvey jersey).
Harvey: Really? If he was standing here right now what kind of advice would you give him?
New Yorker: Uh, I think I would just say, "Keep being awesome." Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's it.
Harvey: Well we appreciate it.
New Yorker: Yeah, man, thanks a lot!
Harvey: Absolutely.

And then the fan realized who he was talking to, as the two shared a laugh and shook hands.

We won't spoil the rest for you. Enjoy!
