Police: L.I. Man Charged With DWI Had 3-Year-Old In The Car

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A Massapequa man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after being involved in a two-car crash with a child in his car on Saturday, Suffolk County Police said.

Ryan Hannigan, 36, made a left turn into oncoming traffic at the intersection of Oak Street and Broadway in Amityville at 2 p.m. and slammed into a Nissan Maxima, according to a police report.

The man driving the Maxima was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with minor injuries. Hannigan and his 3-year-old son were not injured, police said.

Hannigan faces multiple charges including Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Passenger 15-years-old or Younger and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The child was released to a family member.
