Boomer & Carton At Jets Camp: Rex, Sanchez, Idzik And More

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (WFAN) — With two preseason games in the books, football season is almost here!

WFAN co-hosts Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton took their show on the road on Monday, broadcasting live from Jets camp in Florham Park.

The guys chatted with head coach Rex Ryan, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, quarterback Mark Sanchez and general manager John Idzik as Gang Green gets ready for the upcoming season.

Check out all the audio below:

REX RYAN: "I think we'll have a great defense, I don't think there's any doubt. Obviously it's a big blow losing Quinton (Coples), but again, I certainly hope it's not for the year, and I don't anticipate that. But he's a young man who was really coming on, and really with him, Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson and Kenrick Ellis, that's going to be an outstanding group for a lot of years."

MARTY MORNHINWEG: "Trust and communication are key. I will tell you this: I want our players playing without the thought of making a mistake, and that frees them up to play fast and let their natural ability come through. And our job as coaches -- we're teachers -- is to teach and correct, and re-teach forever. And we just keep hammering it, and we just simply can't get frustrated."

Marty Mornhinweg

MARK SANCHEZ: On whether he's earned the starting job thus far -- "I try not to put my personal opinion out there. Obviously it's a little one-sided, a little biased. But I think I'm playing well, I think the whole body of work will speak for itself and then they're going to make the decision they want to make."

Mark Sanchez

JOHN IDZIK: On Geno Smith -- "The ball comes out of his hand. He's done a marvelous job of studying and being prepared, so everything that we saw coming out of West Virginia, we're seeing here."
