Report: Geno Smith To Start For Jets Against Giants On Saturday
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- All eyes will be on Geno Smith on Saturday. According to the New York Daily News, Smith will get the nod from head coach Rex Ryan to start against the Giants on Saturday.
Ryan is yet to announce a starter for the Jets' third preseason game. Gang Green is only one of three NFL teams yet to name a starting quarterback ahead of the 2013 season.
Smith suffered an ankle injury during the Jets' preseason opener against the Detroit Lions. He was unable to participate in last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Barring a setback, Smith will get every chance to prove himself against the Giants.
DYER: GENO HAS ALREADY WON QB BATTLE
Under Mark Sanchez, the Jets went 6-10 last season. Still, Sanchez is widely expected to win the Jets' quarterback battle.
PALLADINO: JETS MUST NAME SANCHEZ STARTER NOW
Should Smith be healthy and ready to go on Saturday, both quarterbacks will get a chance to provide their worthiness in front of the crowd at MetLife Stadium.
