Fire Damages 4 Homes In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Arson investigators were on the scene Monday afternoon, after a fire ripped through four homes.

Fire officials believe the fire started in an abandoned home at 215 Garside St. and spread to at least three occupied homes, 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported.

Fire officials estimated 30 to 35 people were displaced as a result of the blaze. The American Red Cross was assisting the victims.

There were no reports of injuries in the four-alarm fire.

There was no word Monday afternoon on the cause of the fire.
