Nadal To Face No. 1 Seed Djokovic In US Open Final

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Rafael Nadal is in the US Open final after a 6-4, 7-6 (1), 6-2 victory Saturday over Richard Gasquet that the Spaniard took easily despite losing serve for the first time in the tournament.

The second-seeded Nadal will face No. 1 Novak Djokovic on Monday.

This is the first time since 1996 that both U.S. Open finals will pit No. 1 vs. No. 2. On Sunday, top-seeded Serena Williams plays second-seeded Victoria Azarenka for the women's title.

Nadal extended his streak without losing a service game to 73 before eighth-seeded Gasquet broke him in the fourth game of the second set. Both players held through the tiebreaker, which Nadal won easily.

Djokovic had advanced to the final earlier with a 2-6, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over No. 9 Stanislas Wawrinka.
