Boomer & Carton: Jets Capitalize, Giants Falter And Yanks Avoid A Sweep
Rex Ryan had his Gang Green prepared for a battle and when the final gun sounded Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium, his rookie quarterback Geno Smith had led the Jets to a 18-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Don't look now, but the Jets are 1-0!
The Giants were not as fortunate, as Eli Manning & Co. had a tough time maintaining possession of the football and because of that, Big Blue came up short against the Cowboys, losing 36-31 in Dallas.
As for the Yankees, after dropping the first three against the Red Sox, the Bombers managed a 4-3 win in the Bronx. Despite their weekend futility, the Yanks still trail in the wild card by just 2.5 games -- so there's that, too.
So after an eventful weekend, it was a busy open to this Monday edition of the Boomer & Carton Morning Extravaganza...
