Cops Investigating Series Of Violent Robberies Near Columbia Campus
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — Police were investigating a series of violent robberies that took place near the Columbia University Campus in Morningside Heights.
Most of the attacks took place in Morningside Park, CBS 2 reported.
The most recent incident was on Tuesday.
A homeless man threatened a victim with a gun while robbing him, according to authorities.
In August a group of underaged boys were accused of assaulting and attempting to rob three people. The youngest suspect in those incidents is believed to be 12-years-old.
Another pair of juveniles is also suspected of robbing children as young as 10-years-old, according to authorities.
“I still have to worry about my safety. In a group, kids are just as dangerous as adults,” one person said.
The University alerted students to the attacks as the investigation continued.
