Giants Have Nothing But Respect For Chaste Amukamara

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara isn't ashamed to say he's a virgin and abstains from alcohol.

In fact, he recently revealed in a magazine interview that some people call him "the black Tim Tebow."

Though his Big Blue teammates were a little surprised, they're showing nothing but R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

"When I first heard it, I was like, 'Wow,' " cornerback Jayron Hosley told the New York Post, adding that Amukamara is "doing it for a reason, for something that he believes in, that he feels is right for him. I respect that."

The faith-filled footballer was drafted by New York in the first round of the 2011 draft.

Giants cornerback Aaron Ross said Amukamara's upbringing is what "makes him special."

"He's like the little brother in the room," Ross told the Post.

Amukamara told Muscle & Fitness magazine that he'd likely raise a glass before his upcoming marriage to Pilar Davis.

"I still haven't had a drink," Amukamara told Muscle & Fitness magazine. "I told my fiance that I'll probably take my first drink at my bachelor party. I grew up Catholic, so it just started out as one of those things. I'd think, 'If I do this, maybe I can get to heaven,' so I said no drinks, no sex, all the big things."
