NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman was hospitalized Sunday evening, after she was attacked by a pit bull belonging to a friend in Queens.

As 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported, the woman was taken to Elmhurst Hospital after the dog attack at 31st Avenue and 87th Street in East Elmhurst.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be a Good Samaritan, as the woman found out as she tried to separate two dogs that were fighting. The dog owner's third dog jumped in and bit into the woman's arm.
A witness described what he saw.

"I saw a homeless guy. He had, like, three pit bulls in his cart – shopping cart – and they attacked the girl that was on the bike, and it hit her arm, and she fell down right next to the gate," he said.

The dogs' owner, Michael, said the woman's arm is broken and needed stitches. But he and the woman are friends, and no charges will be pressed.

Michael was out and about picking up bottles and cans with his dogs as usual.
