Fashion Trends For Your Furry Friends On Display At Javits Center

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The latest in fashion trends for your furry friends were on display at the Javits Center on Saturday.

From rare, moppy looking Pulies with more hair than most owners are used to, to dogs with barely any, to others sporting extensions like one Rhodesian Ridgeback who donned a lion's wig, plenty of canine fashions were on display, CBS 2's Janelle Burrell reported.

"They think it's his real hair. They're like, whoa it's a dog under there," Pat Hoffman said.

Fine pet themed jewelry, the latest leashes, and holiday ornaments were all hot and trending in the world of furry friends at the Meet The Breeds show which was put on by the American Kennel Club and the International Cat Show.

"It's great. It's like the Comic Con of dogs," Jose Codera said.

Cordera brought his dog Jericho to tryout one of the most popular items at this weekend's show, the calm coat. The coat is designed to swaddle a puppy like a baby and keep them calm during thunderstorms or other times when they may get overly anxious.

"You're gonna hit those pressure points and really soothe them right in the center," he said.

The agile and rare Pumi was among the breeds making a splash at this year's show.

"They have a fabulous temperament. They're very smart. They have a great sense of humor," breeder Danielle Dibona explained.

More than 35,000 people were expected to attend the show over the weekend. It will wrap up on Sunday.
