Fire Tears Through At Home In Fire Island Pines

FIRE ISLAND PINES, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A blaze broke out late Sunday in the Fire Island Pines hamlet on Fire Island.

The blaze was reported around 10:30 p.m. in the house at Fire Island Boulevard and Fisherman's Path. Witness photos showed the house fully engulfed in flames.

Numerous witnesses tweeted information about the fire, describing it as "huge."

There were no immediate reports about injuries, or information about the house or its size or value.

The Fire Island Pines hamlet was ravaged by fire nearly two years ago.

A November 2011 blaze gutted gutted the Pavilion, a popular Fire Island nightspot, and La Fountaine as well as several other businesses in the main commercial area and also spread to an unoccupied home nearby.

The Fire Island Pines is a popular resort area with some of the island's most expensive real estate.
