'Walk For Farm Animals' This Weekend In Central Park

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Farm Sanctuary, the largest farm animal rescue group in the country, is putting on the "Walk For Farm Animals" this weekend in Central Park.

Farm Sanctuary President Gene Baur and Miss NYC 2013 Acacia Courtney stopped by The Couch to talk about the walk.

"At Farm Sanctuary the animals that are raised for food are our friends," Baur said. "We have cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys that we live with, we take care of and when you get to know them they are not that different than cats and dogs. They have feelings, they have relationships."

"These are animals and we need to treat them compassionately and change the way we approach the concept of our health, and change the way we approach the concept of what we eat and how we treat animals in general," Courtney said.

The walk begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Merchant's Gate entrance across from Columbus Circle.
