L.I. Man Accused Of Leaving 13-Month-Old Son Alone At Home

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man has been accused of leaving his 13-month-old son alone at home.

Police officers found the boy alone in a crib in a bedroom of a basement apartment in Medford on Sunday afternoon after receiving a 911 call about a crying infant, police said.

One of the officers comforted the child, checked his health and changed his soiled diaper before the boy's mother arrived.

The boy's father, 44-year-old Kelly Voss, returned to the apartment about 40 minutes after officers arrived and was arrested, police said.

He had been entrusted with the boy's care during a scheduled weekend visitation, police said.

Voss is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and is expected to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.
