Surveillance Cameras Catch Deer Crashing Into Patchogue Restaurant

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- It wasn't a burglar that was caught on surveillance video breaking into the Harbor Crab restaurant in Patchogue, it was a deer.

The young buck came crashing through the restaurant's front window around 2:30 on Thursday morning, CBS 2's Tracee Carrasco reported.

He explored the dining room, roamed around, and caused nearly $3,000 worth of damage.

"The benches were all torn up, the windows had a little bit of blood on them and dirt from where he was trying to jump to get out," manager Kathleen Donish said.

A cleaning crew found the deer when they arrived in the morning but management still isn't sure where the animal came from.

"I'm here 12 years and that is the first time I've ever seen a deer this close to the restaurant," Donish said.

The deer was not hurt and was set free after he was captured.
