Conn. Rabbi Returns $98,000 Found In Desk He Bought On Craigslist

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A Connecticut rabbi and his wife got a lot more than they bargained for when they bought a desk on Craigslist.

Rabbi Noah Muroff of New Haven purchased the desk for $150.

When he brought it home, the desk wouldn't fit through the door so he and his wife had to take it apart.

When they pulled out the drawers, the couple found a bulging plastic shopping bag.

"We open it up and it's full of cash," Muroff said. "We count it up and there's $98,000 cash sitting in the bag."

Muroff called the woman who sold him the desk and told her what was found.

She said she'd stuffed the money in the desk and had forgotten about it.

When Muroff and his wife returned the $98,000, they took their four kids along for a lesson in honesty.
