High Heels: Love 'Em Or Hate 'Em?

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- When it comes to shoes, most women love them, and some even say they're obsessed with them. But what is more important when it comes to footwear: sex appeal or comfort?

On Thursday, CBS 2's Cindy Hsu found out what matters more to women on the streets of New York City.

"Sex and the City" put sexy shoes on the map, and many ladies love their high heels, no matter how much they hurt their feet.

"Oh my gosh -- throbbing, hurting, they feel like they need a massage and placed in ice. It is painful at the end of the day, but it looks good," said sexy shoe lover Ana Parodi.

And superstar shoe designer Christian Louboutin agreed.

"If you look at my shoes, I just don't want you to tell me, 'oh my god it looks so comfy.' That's not something I would take as a compliment," Louboutin said on "CBS This Morning."

Other women said they've tried sexy shoes and they just don't work for them.

"When you come home late and your feet, they're like killed by the shoes actually," Anna Sidorova said.

Susan Magrino told Hsu she thinks there's no reason why women can't have both.

"I think comfort is important, but it melds into style," Magrino said.

There is also the other popular option of wearing heels when you need to, but carrying a pair of flats around to give your feet a break.
