2 Women Dead After Being Struck By Vehicle On Staten Island

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Thursday were investigating an accident that left two people dead on Staten Island the evening before.

Police were notified of the accident happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. A 59-year-old man was headed south on Forest Hill Road near Executive Way when he struck two women as they crossed the road from east to west, police said.

The women killed in the accident were identified as Marion Anderson, 47, of Brooklyn, and Lizette Sorrano, 59, of Staten Island, police said.

The driver of the 2013 Honda Odyssey that struck the women remained at the scene, police said. Police did not indicate whether tickets or charges would be issued.

The investigation continued as of Thursday.
