Officials: 5 Injured In Jersey City Ferry Mishap

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A botched ferry docking in Jersey City sent five people to the hospital Friday afternoon.

According to officials, the boat was arriving from the Financial District when it pulled into the wrong slip and slammed into a metal apparatus.

"The ferry struck the wrong pier," James Shea, Director of the Jersey City Department of Public Safety, told 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten. "Where it was going we'll find out when the investigation is over."

Four of the injured were knocked to the ground upon impact, officials said.

None of the injuries were said to be serious and the damage to the boat appeared to be minor, officials said.
