Police: Queens Man Killed In Industrial Accident
MELVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Queens man was killed Monday afternoon in an industrial accident on Long Island, police said.
Employees at 110 Sand Co. in Melville found the body of Mauricio Edy Zambranover, 23, near the rear of his commercial truck just after 1 p.m., police said. Zambranover suffered significant internal injuries, according to authorities. The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office pronounced him dead at the scene.
An autopsy will be conducted, and the investigation is ongoing.
Zambranovera worked for City Recycling in Brooklyn.
Police told Newsday the victim may have been struck by one of the massive earth-moving machines at the landfill.
A call to the plant was not immediately returned.
