NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Ryan Strome has been recalled from Bridgeport and is expected to make his NHL debut Thursday when the New York Islanders take on the Coyotes in Phoenix.
Strome leads the AHL with 33 points on nine goals and 24 assists. He was the Islanders’ top pick (No. 5 overall) in the 2011 draft.
The 20-year-old center will join his new teammates Wednesday, according to Newsday. Pierre-Marc Bouchard cleared waivers on Tuesday.
Strome was named November’s AHL Rookie of the Month and is coming off two straight Player of the Week honors.
The Islanders snapped a 10-game losing streak Tuesday with a 3-2 shootout win over the San Jose Sharks.
