Police: Bronx Day Care Worker Stole Earrings From 18-Month-Old Girl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City police have arrested a day care worker who they said stole earrings from a baby.

Desire Santiago, 21, was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property on Wednesday, police said.

Santiago was caught on surveillance video taking earrings from an 18-month-old girl at a Bronx day care center last Thursday, according to investigators.

The baby's mother noticed the hoop earrings were gone after picking the child up from the day care center, CBS 2 reported.

The child was not harmed, police said.
