NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Mark your calendars! The U.S. Navy Blue Angels are making a comeback for the 2014 Memorial Day weekend.
As WCBS 880’s Mike Xirinachs reported Sunday, the Blue Angels flew to Long Island this week to officially announced their return to the annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.
U.S. Navy Lieutenant and Blue Angel pilot Ryan Chamberlain told Xirinachs their return to New York is just as special to the angels as it is to the fans.
“I think it’s special when people get to see the Blue Angels perform, but being comfortable on the beach,” Chamberlain said. “Without a doubt we’re looking forward to coming back in 2014.”
The Blue Angels were canceled last summer due to lack of government funding.
