Suspect Charged In East Side Rape Attempt
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A man has been arrested and charged in an attempted rape in an apartment on the East Side of Manhattan.
Donnelle Murphy, 29, was charged Sunday with attempted rape, burglary, grand larceny, and menacing in the Dec. 16 attack, police said.
Around 2 a.m. that morning, a suspect forced his way into the woman’s apartment in the area of Lexington Avenue in the 13th Precinct, which includes the Flatiron District, Kips Bay, and Stuyvesant Town areas.
The suspect attempted to rape the woman, police said. The victim fought him off and he fled, police said.
Police did not indicate in a news release whether the suspect took anything from the apartment, to warrant the burglary and grand larceny charges, or if those charges stemmed from another incident.
