Mayor Bloomberg Becomes A Grandfather
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Mayor Michael Bloomberg is now a grandfather.
A spokeswoman for Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina said she gave birth to a son around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The child’s name is Jasper Michael Brown Quintana. His father is Ramiro Quintana, a professional equestrian from Argentina.
Georgina Bloomberg is also a professional rider.
Bloomberg said he is “thrilled and just so proud of Georgina” and it’s “an incredible way to start the new year.”
In a speech earlier this month, he got emotional while discussing his hopes for the future of the city that will be the boy’s home.
Bloomberg and his former wife, Susan Brown, have two daughters – Georgina, 30, and Emma, 34. Bloomberg and Brown divorced in 1993. Jasper Michael Brown Quintana is their first grandchild.
Bloomberg is leaving office at the end of the month. Bill de Blasio will take over as mayor effective Jan. 1.
