Cops ID Suspect In East Harlem Attempted Rape

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a 15-year-old boy who they believe tried to rape of a woman in East Harlem last weekend and could be responsible for as many as a dozen robberies.

Authorities identified the suspect at Kalief Jackson and said he is also wanted in connection with an attempted robbery Friday night in Midtown. He is also being sought for questioning in 11 other robberies in Manhattan, including one of which involved sexual assault.

Jackson is described as 6 feet tall, 165 pounds with a dark complexion and afro hairstyle.

Around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, the suspect walked up to a 34-year-old woman in an East Harlem building, pushed her to the ground and tried to rape her, police said.

The victim screamed and the suspect fled, police said. No injuries were reported.

On Friday, Jackson approached a woman in a residential building while simulating he had a gun, police said. The victim, who had just reached the ground floor in the elevator, went back into the elevator, hitting various buttons and screaming. The suspect then fled. No property was taken.
