Queens Fire Leaves 93-Year-Old Woman Dead

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 93-year-old woman was killed during a fire in Queens on Monday, officials said.

At around 10:30 a.m., firefighters rushed to the home on Himrod Street in Ridgewood, where they were able to put out the fire. The victim, identified as Maria Tchinkel, was found unconscious at the scene.

She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Authorities did not say what caused the fire. There were no other injuries.
