Woman Struck, Killed By School Bus On Upper East Side
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A woman was struck and killed by a school bus on the Upper East Side Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place at around 3:30 p.m. at Second Avenue and 93rd Street.
As WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reported, the bus was headed westbound on East 93rd Street when it began backing up, possibly due to traffic.

The bus struck the woman in the crosswalk, according to New York City Councilman Ben Kallos' office.
Responding officers found the unidentified woman in her 40s lying on the sidewalk with severe head trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police sources told CBS 2's Jessica Schneider the victim was walking across 93rd Street looking at a scratch-off lottery ticket when she was hit by the bus. Police said the woman, said to be in her 40s, died in the street of cardiac and respiratory arrest, 1010 WINS' Derricke Dennis reported.
Six children between the ages of 5 and 11 from St. Stevens of Hungary Elementary School were on the bus when the accident occurred. The children were taken from the bus to a nearby gym where parents picked them up.
"The school bus driver, he was going crazy after he knew what happened. He was in the bus screaming, crying. And then I guess the paramedics came and took him away," a witness told Schneider.
"It's really hard, especially to have construction here. There's no lines on the street, taxi guys just cut in front of you and you're dealing with kids on the bus, no matrons, no help and it becomes very difficult," another witness said.
Second Avenue was closed between 91st and 96th streets following the accident.
