NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — There has been a shake up in popular baby names in New York.
While Sophia stayed at No. 1, Jacob usurped Michael as the top picked baby name for a boy in New York last year.
Data released on Thursday shows 1,388 girls named Sophia were born in the state in 2013 and 1,286 boys were named Jacob. Another 674 girls were named Sofia, ranking No. 10.
Isabella, Emma, Olivia, Mia, Ava, Emily, Madison and Abigail also ranked in the girls top 10, according to the Social Security Administration. Only one newborn separated Emma and Olivia.
The administration said Ethan, Liam, Jayden, Mason, Joseph, Noah, Matthew and Daniel also ranked in the boys top 10.
Sophia was also No. 1 among girls nationally. Jacob took No. 3 behind Noah and Liam. Eight of the state’s top boys names and nine of its girls names were also top 10 nationally.
