Police: ATV Driver Killed In Crash With SUV In The Bronx

BRONX, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating after a deadly collision involving an ATV in the Bronx.

The accident happened near the intersection of Broadway and West 259th Street around 5:25 p.m., police said.

When police arrived, officers discovered an unidentified male in his 30's lying on the ground with severe body trauma.

EMS also responded to the scene and rushed the victim to St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an initial investigation, police said the victim was driving a Yamaha ATV, heading northbound on Broadway when he attempted to pass a 2014 Ford Explorer making a left turn into an underground garage mid-block on Broadway when the accident occurred.

The 40-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer remained on the scene, police said.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
