Toms River Police Search For Child Luring Suspect

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - A man driving an SUV attempted to lure a child into the vehicle last Friday, Toms River police said.

The incident took place at around 6 p.m., police said.

A young boy was playing in his fenced-in front yard on Terrance Avenue near Marian Street when the SUV pulled up, according to police.

The boy's aunt was nearby, watching the child, but apparently the SUV driver didn't notice her.

"Come on, I got candy," the driver allegedly said to the boy.

The aunt charged toward the vehicle, which took off.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his early to mid 20s, with a thin build, and medium to long black hair.

The SUV is either dark blue or black with New Jersey plates.
