Conn. H.S. Teacher Held On Bond For Alleged Sexual Relationship With Student

STAMFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A now-suspended Stamford High School teacher is being held on $100,000 bond after allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a student and threatening him when he tried to end it.

Police say 32-year-old English teacher Danielle Watkins not only had a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student, but supplied him and a friend with marijuana. The second victim, 15 and another one of Watkins' students, admitted to police that he had also smoked marijuana with Watkins.

Stamford Police Captain Richard Conklin told WCBS 880's Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau that when police arrested Watkins at her home in Norwalk, they discovered evidence of the sexual relationship on her cell phone.

"On her phone and on the victim's phone, we found text messages and photos that were sent of her naked, that she sent to the victim," Conklin told Schneidau.

Police say when the victim tried to end the relationship, the teacher threatened to give him failing marks if he broke it off.

According to a news release from the Stamford Police Department, the victim told police the sexual encounters happened off school grounds, but during school hours in Watkins' vehicle. She also allegedly let the victim drive her car even though she knew he didn't have a license.
