Police Looking For Man Who Allegedly Assaulted Cop

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are trying to track down an alleged shoplifter who they say assaulted a cop Saturday on the Upper East Side.

Police say they were trying to arrest the man for stealing clothing from Barneys New York at 660 Madison Avenue when the suspect resisted by fighting officers. The suspect injured one cop before fleeing, police said.

The injured officer was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated for an injury to his back and released, police said.

Police have released photos and videos of the suspect. He was seen wearing a black shirt, camouflage shorts and black sneakers.

Cops apprehended another person who was with the man in the department store.
