Man Slashed With Box Cutter Waiting For Subway On Upper East Side

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A man was slashed in the face, arm and stomach by two unknown men while standing on the uptown 4/5 subway platform at Lexington and E. 59th Street, WCBS 880 reported.

WCBS 880 reports the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m.

Witnesses said the suspects tried to rob the victim, who said he didn't have anything worth taking, so they slashed him, 1010 WINS reported.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

There is no suspect information available at this time.

This was the second subway attack reported Saturday.

According to police, a drunken straphanger stabbed three men on a subway train pulling into Grand Central Terminal early Saturday morning.

As 1010 WINS' Roger Stern reported, one man was stabbed in the chest and is listed in critical condition. Two others were slashed; one in the arm and the other in the stomach, Stern reported. They were being treated at Bellevue Hospital.

The child wasn't harmed.

DeLeon, 38, was arrested on charges of assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

"I heard of another one on 1010 WINS before so I don't know, it's increasing and that's kind of scary," one subway rider said.

Gustafo was standing outside the entrance of the station when the 29-year-old was slashed with a box cutter. But he said he isn't too worried.

"It's not like too dangerous," Gustafo said.

The two stabbings occurred just two stops apart.
