NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The NYPD is searching for three suspects in a gang assault of a 42-year-old off-duty officer in Midtown.
Police told CBS 2 the officer, was walking on W. 49th Street toward 9th Avenue around 12:20 a.m., Saturday when one of the suspects jumped in front of him in a “fighting stance.” The officer then tried to walk past him when two other men joined in and punched the man in the head numerous times.
The suspects fled the scene, but were caught on surveillance video.
The officer was taken to Roosevelt Hospital and was treated for lacerations to his head.
