Men Plead Guilty To Charges In Connection With High-End International Car Theft Ring

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) -- Two men have admitted their roles in an international car theft scheme involving high-end cars.

Authorities say the vehicles were stolen in New York and routed into New Jersey, where they were to be shipped to Abu Dhabi for re-sale.

Acting New Jersey Attorney General John Hoffman announced Tuesday that 32-year-old Adam Hassan, of Guttenberg, and 28-year-old Tomas Bladimir Castillo-Abreu, of the Bronx, New York pleaded guilty to charges of receiving stolen property.

Prosecutors will recommend a four-year state prison term for Hassan, while Castillo-Abreu will likely get a 364-day county jail term and three years of probation term. Both are due to be sentenced Oct. 17, and each man will have to pay restitution to offset the costs of extraditing them to New Jersey.
