LISTEN: Disgusted Benigno Rips Jets, Calls For Vick To Start

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Jets let another game get away on Monday night.

No, they didn't blow a lead like they did in Week 2 against Green Bay, but they absolutely could have defeated the Bears at MetLife Stadium if it weren't for sloppy play and backbreaking turnovers.

WFAN co-host Joe Benigno, a diehard Jets fan, was in rare form on Tuesday morning when he kicked off his midday show with Evan Roberts.

Joe B. Is Disgusted

"I'm just gonna say two words here, and then I'm gonna give it to my partner to take over from there and it will go from there," Benigno said. "I have two words: Michael Vick. That's all I'm gonna say. It's time for him to start ... I've had enough of Geno (Smith) already."

Smith threw for 316 yards, but completed just 26 of 43 passes and was picked off twice. He was also sacked three times.

Down 27-19 on the Bears' 9-yard line with 1:04 to play in the game, Smith threw a pass targeted for Jeremy Kerley out of bounds. That sealed New York's fate.

"How bad was that throw? You've gotta give me more than that," Joe B. said. "I hate that call on a fourth down, bro, because it's a one-shot deal. You've got one guy in the pattern, there's only one guy you're throwing the ball to. I mean, I hate that. Give my quarterback some kind of an option there. Something."

Now 1-2, the Jets' schedule just keeps getting more difficult. The next four games are against the Lions, Chargers, Broncos and Patriots. Things could spiral out of control in a hurry.

"Just a horror show," Benigno said. "And a couple of other things. First of all, Eric Decker, why did he play last night? There's no reason to play! The guy's got a bad hamstring, don't play him! Now you've got a short week to turn around to go play the Lions on Sunday ... And this nonsense of putting Vick on the field for one play has gotta stop. It's gotta stop! If he's not gonna be the quarterback, then he shouldn't be on the field."
